ABOUT


GoLive Awards and Showcases are an annual celebration of student talent and achievement. Their aim is to reward success and provide a talent pipeline to the industry.

 

At the heart of the Awards are national and regional Industry Awards, covering categories such as Best Song, Best Game and Best Photo. National Awards are judged by industry partners and winners will receive an Amazon voucher. Nominations for all Industry Awards are via this site, to which have been added some current external awards opportunities.


To these are added Education Awards celebrating outstanding student achievement and progress, as well as a set of Level 2 and Personal Achievement Awards. These awards are judged by members of staff and relevant industry professionals.



NOMINATIONS 24

 

Nominations for the GoLive Awards 24 are extended to midnight on Monday 27th May.

 

At the heart of the process is an opportunity for you to shout about what you do and to get recognised for it. Winning an award, or getting into the runners-up, is something to shout out about on your CV and professional profile. It will help you to stand out and showcase your talents.


Have you created something that you are really proud of? If so nominate it for an Industry Award. It can be something you have done in college, or outside of it. 


The winners of each campus' Industry Awards will be put forward for the National Awards. These are judged by the industry and carry prizes.


CRITERIA

 

Nominations for Industry Awards focus on creative work(s) and professional practice.

All Industry Awards must be submitted by the student, or students, themselves.


Nominations for Personal Achievement Awards, Education Awards & Level 2 Awards focus on educational and personal & professional development and are submitted by members of staff via a separate site.



EVIDENCE

 

We strongly recommend that your nomination is submitted via a link to an Awards page added to your professional profile site.


You must make sure that this page is PUBLISHED and that anyone on the internet can VIEW IT. You can do this in Google Sites in the share permissions. Alternatively you can link to identified work on a public profile or portfolio site.


This page should clearly explain how your nomination meets the award criteria, plus any relevant information to support your nomination. You will need to embed your creative work, or provide an accessible link to it.




CEREMONIES 24

 

Award winners are celebrated at end-of-year campus Awards Ceremonies which are held at a local venues. National award winners are announced at the online National Awards Ceremony at mid day on Friday 12th July. For more information see CEREMONIES in the top menu.



HOURS

 

All Level 3 students are expected to spend a minimum on 2 hours of non-timetabled time on selecting, developing and nominating their work and on attending Awards Ceremonies at the end of the year.

AWARDS PRESENTER - self nominated

NATIONAL AWARDS PRESENTER
Industry Role

GoLive is looking for a new face for the National Awards Ceremony, which will be streamed to all students and staff on 12th July. If you have accomplished presenting skills and can create your own quality videos, then this is an opportunity to earn £500 and add it to your CV.

We are looking for a confident presenter who is experienced in creating to-camera videos for social media or other channels. You will be required to read engagingly and fluently to prepared scripts in a self-resourced professional well-lit environment with good audio and visuals.

You will create short video clips for each award, editing these as required, and submit all videos to GoLive by the set project deadline at the end of June.

You will also have the opportunity to showcase yourself and your work to the whole Access college.

This Special Award is national and can earn you £500.

MUSIC AWARDS - self nominated

BEST BAND
Industry Award

For an original group which excels in creativity, innovation and artistic and professional development.

Judges will be looking for strong repertoire reflective of genre, effective performance skills, plus evidence of brand development, such as image, fan liaison and promotion. Successful bands should be able to show innovative practice in relation to some aspect of their work. Supporting evidence will include links to recorded works, performances and social media channels/websites.

This Industry Award is regional and national - the winning band will receive a £25 Amazon voucher for each member + £25 award from UK Music + a GAK voucher.

BEST SOLO ARTIST
Industry Award

For an original solo artist who excels in creativity, innovation and artistic and professional development.

Judges will be looking for strong repertoire reflective of genre, effective performance skills, plus evidence of brand development, such as image, fan liaison and promotion. Successful artists should be able to show innovative practice in relation to some aspect of their work. Supporting evidence will include links to recorded works, performances and social media channels/websites. This award is intended for singer/songwriters, singers, rappers/MCs etc.

This Industry Award is regional and national - the national winner will receive a £50 Amazon voucher  + £50 award from UK Music + a GAK voucher.

BEST PRODUCER
Industry Award

For an original producer who excels in creativity, innovation and artistic and professional development.

Judges will be looking for strong repertoire reflective of genre, plus evidence of brand development, such as identity, audience liaison and promotion. Successful producers should be able to show innovative practice in relation to some aspect of their work. Supporting evidence will include links to recorded works and social media channels/websites.

This Industry Award is regional and national - the national winner will receive a £50 Amazon voucher + £50 award from UK Music + a GAK voucher.


BEST SONG/COMPOSITION
Industry Award

For an original song which is outstanding within its intended genre.

Judges will be looking for strong stylistic and musical/melodic features as well as inspiring musical motifs, sounds and structures. Lyrics (if applicable) should show invention and skill in execution. The song/composition should be able to show innovative practice in relation to some aspect of its composition or recording. Supporting evidence will include link to a recorded work.

This Industry Award is regional and national - the national winner will receive a £50 Amazon voucher, or teams will receive a £25 Amazon voucher for each member + equivalent award from UK Music + a GAK voucher.

BEST DJ
Industry Award

For a DJ who excels in creativity and artistic and professional development.

Judges will be looking for a strong, coherent repertoire which is expertly mixed using a variety of DJ skills. There should be also be evidence of brand development, such as image, networking and promotion. Supporting evidence will include a link to a recorded mix of around 45 minutes, plus any videos of live DJing and social media channels/websites.

This Industry Award is regional only.


ARTIST DEVELOPMENT AWARD
Industry Award

For an artist on the Level 4 Artist Development Programme who has excelled in terms of professional development.

Judges will be looking for an artist who has made significant progress in developing their brand, repertoire and fanbase in preparation for professional work. Supporting evidence will include links to recorded works, performances and social media channels/websites.

This Industry Award is regional and national - the national winner will receive a £50 Amazon voucher, or teams will receive a £25 Amazon voucher for each member + equivalent award from UK Music + a GAK voucher.

GAMES AWARDS - self nominated

BEST GAME
Industry Award

For an original game or game concept which excels in narrative/storyboard, visual identity and user experience.

Judges will be looking for games, or game concepts, which show originality and successfully draw users into the game play through both storyboard and visual aesthetics. Successful games should be able to show innovative practice in relation to some aspect of the game. Supporting evidence will include links to working/test versions of the game, game play, game art, game structures etc.  Games must be created, or part-created, by students of Access Creative College.

This Industry Award is regional and national - the national winner will receive a £50 Amazon voucher or teams will receive a £25 Amazon voucher for each member.


BEST GAMES ART
Industry Award

For original games art which excels in creativity, innovation and visual identity.

 Judges will be looking for games art which show originality and successfully draw users into the game play through strong visual aesthetics. Ideally there will be evidence of innovative practice in relation to some aspect of the art creation. Supporting evidence will include links to games art and working/test versions of games which use that art.

This Industry Award is regional and national - the national winner will receive a £50 Amazon voucher + a 6 month digital subscription to Edge from Future Publishing


BEST GAME DESIGN/DEVELOPMENT
Industry Award

For the game project which demonstrates excellent project management and design and development processes.

Judges will be looking for games projects which show creative, innovative and effective storyboarding, level development and project management. Successful games should be able to show innovative practice in relation to some aspect of the design and development process. Supporting evidence will include links to working/test versions of the game, storyboards, game structures, project management documentation etc. 

This Industry Award is regional and national - the national winner will receive a £50 Amazon voucher or teams will receive a £25 Amazon voucher for each member.

BAFTA YGD
AWARDS
Games Awards

BAFTA’s Young Game Designers opens a world of creative opportunities and supports you on your journey into making great games.

The competition is open to games designers aged up to 18 and you will get feedback on your game from industry experts and the opportunity to network

You must register for the award by 18th March.

3D GAMES ART
AWARD
World Skills UK Award

This award from World Skills UK is a 3D digital art competition designed to reflect the role of a 3D digital artist within the game industry including standards expected in the development of an AAA game.

The challenge is to take a concept and transform it into a 3D mesh which harnesses a wide range of skill sets from good geometry decisions to symmetry and texture. 

You must register for the award by 28th March and enter your work in April. Finalists are announced in July with the final showcase in November.

MEDIA AWARDS - self nominated

Because of the later course deadline for Media, these awards will be kept open until Sunday 26th May.

BEST FILM/VIDEO
Industry Award

For an original video or short film which excels in subject, story-telling, creative shooting/editing and production.

Judges will be looking for a video/short film which shows originality and excellence in relation to narrative, story-telling/messaging, visual identity and technical production. Ideally there will be evidence of innovative practice in relation to some aspect of the creation process. Supporting evidence will include links to the finished video/film with background information on its subject and creation. Videos/films must be created by students of Access Creative College.

This Industry Award is regional and national - the national winner will receive a £50 Amazon voucher + a 6 month digital subscription to Total Film from Future Publishing, or teams will receive a £25 Amazon voucher for each member.

BEST PHOTOGRAPH
Industry Award

For an original photograph which excels in subject matter, creative composition and technique.

Judges will be looking for a photograph which shows originality and excellence in relation to aesthetics and technical production. Ideally there will be evidence of innovative practice in relation to some aspect of the creation process. Supporting evidence will include links to the photograph with background information on its subject and creation. Photos must be created by students of Access Creative College.

This Industry Award is regional and national - the national winner will receive a £50 Amazon voucher  + a 6 month digital subscription to Photography Week from Future Publishing


BEST DESIGN
Industry Award

For an original graphic or digital design which excels in style, design and execution. 

Judges will be looking for a piece of design work which shows originality and excellence in relation to intended purpose, and use of design elements/typography/imagery. Ideally there will be evidence of innovative practice in relation to some aspect of the creation process. Supporting evidence will include links to the finished design with background information on its subject and creation.

This Industry Award is regional and national - the national winner will receive a £50 Amazon voucher or teams will receive a £25 Amazon voucher for each member  + a 6 month digital subscription to Wallpaper from Future Publishing.


BEST ANIMATION/VFX
Industry Award

For original work in animation and VFX which excels in intent, realisation and execution. 

Judges will be looking for animation and VFX which shows originality and excellence in relation to the intended purpose. Ideally there will be evidence of innovative practice in relation to some aspect of the creation process. Supporting evidence will include links to the finished animation and VFX work with background information on its subject and creation.

INTO FILM AWARDS
Film Awards

The Into Film Awards enable young people aged 5-19 to be creative and find a voice through practical filmmaking, and to make films about what matters to them.

With ten categories, including animation and live action films, the Awards spotlight budding filmmakers of all ages from across the UK. Entries are open until 23:59 on Sunday 31st March 2024. Winners are announced on Tuesday 25 June 2024, at central London's famous ODEON Luxe Leicester Square.

D&AD AWARDS
Design Awards

D&AD New Blood Awards is open to design, digital and marketing students. It's your opportunity to get a head start on gaining the exposure you need to kick start your creative career.

There are 17 industry briefs from major companies. Entries are open until 17:00 on Wednesday 20th March 2024. Winners are announced in late May with an Award Ceremony in July.

DIGITAL MEDIA PRODUCTION
AWARD
World Skills UK Award

This award from World Skills UK is based around a digital media production competition.

 The competition allows for teams to progress through the three main aspects of the production cycle: pre-production, production and post-production in order to successfully produce a finished artifact which meets all aspects of the original brief. 

You must register for the award by 28th March and enter your work in April. Finalists are announced in July with the final showcase in November.

GRAPHIC DESIGN
AWARD
World Skills UK Award

This award from World Skills UK is based around a graphic design competition.

 The competition allows you to create, analyse and develop a visual response to communication problems, including understanding hierarchy, typography, aesthetics and composition. You will create, manipulate and optimise images for both print and online publishing.

You must register for the award by 28th March and enter your work in April. Finalists are announced in July with the final showcase in November.

WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT
AWARD
World Skills UK Award

This award from World Skills UK is based around a website design competition.

 The competition allows you to work to a professional brief to build a user-friendly, contemporary website in a live competition. The competition includes a range of competencies for web designers and developers.

You must register for the award by 28th March and enter your work in April. Finalists are announced in July with the final showcase in November.

ESPORTS & COMPUTING AWARDS

Industry Award

For an esports event which excels in intent and execution.

Judges will be looking for an event which shows originality and excellence in relation to planning and management. Ideally there will be evidence of innovative practice in relation to some aspect of the process. Supporting evidence will include links to promotional assets for the event, video footage of the event and an impact report/review, plus background information on its planning and operational delivery. Events must be created by students of Access Creative College.

For an original piece of software which excels in intent and execution.

Judges will be looking for a piece of software which shows originality and excellence in relation to design, development and functionality. Ideally there will be evidence of innovative practice in relation to some aspect of the creation process. Supporting evidence will include links to the working software with background information on its development and testing. Software must be created by students of Access Creative College.

Special Award

For an ACC student who goes above and beyond, behind the scenes.

An example of an unsung hero is a student carer, who not only has to complete all necessary work, but must also take care of a family member at home, or a student parent who may struggle at times with punctuality or the completion of coursework, yet continues to display commitment.

This Award is regional and national - the national winner will receive a £50 Amazon voucher.

YES I CAN AWARD
Special Award

For an ACC student who faces, or has faced, a barrier to learning.

This can range from a learning need to a physical or medical condition. They will have needed to demonstrate a positive attitude to learning. They may have become frustrated at times, but showed resilience despite the challenges.

This Award is regional and national - the national winner will receive a £50 Amazon voucher.

WELLBEING CHAMPION
Special Award

For an ACC student who has effectively supported and promoted awareness of wellbeing and mental health.

This may be supporting a friend, campaigning for a charity, or using their own ways of tackling adversity to inspire others.

WORK PLACEMENT AWARD
Special Award

For an ACC student who excelled in their work placement.

This will include their preparation, motivation, attitude and behaviours at work, time keeping and productivity. Ideally it will be supported with a reference from the employer.
